These functions, both formal and informal, are made more enjoyable and progress more smoothly under the direction of a good Toastmaster either in 'reds' or in dinner jacket or lounge suit - which ever dress code suits the occasion.
Howard's role is to gather and seat the guests in good time (not always easy at the more informal occasion), liaise with the venue, caterers, entertainers, speakers, and hosts, check sound and lighting, run the auctions and raffles, keep the programme moving to schedule, keep the guests in the right place at the right time, introduce speakers, wind up the proceedings and much more.
